
Artist Spotlight | Cheryl Durgans
Cheryl Durgans is a writer, visual artist and cultural activist. Born and raised in Ohio, Cheryl attended Spelman College and graduated with a BA in Art. Cheryl moved to Philadelphia in 1996, and participates in the Philadelphia arts scene as both artist and arts administrator.
Cheryl's poetry is included in the NAACP Image Award nominated book Check the Rhyme: Female Poets and MCs. Her performance art and installation show altared spaces was featured at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Cheryl's art work and poetry has been exhibited and performed at the Philadelphia Black Women's Art Festival.
Cheryl received a Masters Degree in Liberal Arts with a focus on Cultural Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and is currently a Project Manager for the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program.
